Description
A screenshot and link to the U of T Libraries LibrarySearch page for "Tiger Tail". The zine is described as a 32 page work, which differs from the Art Metropole listing, which has it as 30 pages. A Local Note on the page indicates that their copy is bound on yellow paper boards, which could imply that the discrepancy in page count may be due to the Fisher Rare Book Library's choice to count the front and back cover. I confirmed with the creator Phillip that the work is indeed 30 pages plus the two covers.
The fact that the work was bound on paper board may also have impacted the Fisher's decision not to describe it as a zine. Indeed, my decision to describe it as a 'zine' comes from my conversations with the creator who refers to it that way. There is also no information that indicates that this is the only existing copy of "Tiger tail", though the General Note does mention that it is handmade.
The page lists the work's subject as "Customer service -- Psychological aspects", "Ice cream industry -- Pictorial works", "Ice cream parlors", "Social media in art", "Artists' books -- Canada", "Photobooks". While most of these descriptors are accurate, some such as "Ice Cream parlors", and "Ice cream industry" are a bit misleading as the narrative of the work is less about the Ice cream industry than it is the surveillance of workers by customers. I think those looking for an in-depth look into the ice cream business would be confused to be referred to this work. Also, the American spelling of 'parlor' highlights how U of T Libraries uses of Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) to categorize materials.
