Description

Created by Mia Mulvey, a sculptor and professor of Studio Art at the University of Denver, "Prometheus" is a ceramic sculpture of the stump of the deceased bristlecone pine of the same name. According to her website, Mulvey's work focuses on addressing "the recording of time, climate change and our relationship to remote landscapes."

The piece originated as a 3D scan of the stump before being cast in ceramic.

More information about the tree itself can be found within the "Oldest Deceased Trees" section of this exhibit.
