Afghan Girl

A color portrait of Sharbat Gula, an Afghan refugee girl, taken by photographer Steve McCurry in 1984 at the Nasir Bagh refugee camp in Pakistan. The image became iconic after its publication on the cover of National Geographic in June 1985.
