Description
Photograph of an illicit bone record made from a discarded medical x-ray image of a human hand. The image was repurposed as an unofficial sound recording medium, consistent with Soviet-era samizdat music culture when Western music was heavily censored and restricted in the U.S.S.R (circa 1960–1970) . This specific record is unique as it has yet to be hand-cut into the classic record shape, yet the circular audio groove is visible, meaning the image is embedded with recorded music. The recorded song is identified as Elvis Presley's "It Feels So Right" based on a typed paper document received by the library alongside the record at the time of acquisition.
