Title
Lullaby of Birdland
Subject
music, music history, jazz, jazz era
Description
An audio recording of Ella Fitzgerald's song Lullaby of Birdland, sourced from a bone record. The sound quality is grainy and degraded.
Jazz and rock music were among the genres that were most effected by crack downs and outlawing. These two genres trace their roots to Black artists and performers - an argument can be made that, while Soviet officials had an interest in banning Western media at large, media associated with othered groups even moreso.

Oh lullaby of birdland that's what I / Always hear, when you cry / Never in my word land could there be words to reveal / In a phrase how I feel / Have you ever heard two turtles / Bill and coo when they love? / That's the kind of magic music we make with our lips / When we kiss (we kiss) / And there's a weeping willow / He really knows how to cry / That's how I'd cry into my pillow / If you should ever tell me farewell and goodbye / Lullaby of birdland whisper low / Kiss me sweet, and we'll go / Flying high in birdland, high up in the sky above / All because we're in love / Lullaby (lullaby) / Lullaby (lullaby) / Have you ever heard two turtle doves / Bill and coo when they love? / That's the kind of magic music we make with our lips / When we kiss / And there's a weepy old willow (willow) / He really knows how to cry (boo hoo) / That's how I'd cry into my pillow (pillow) / If you should ever tell me farewell and goodbye / Lullaby in birdland, whisper low / Kiss me sweet, and we'll go / Flying high in birdland, high in the sky up above / All because we're in love
