This news story was written by American reporter Arthur Menken and published in The Seattle Daily Times on December 16, 1937. Menken was on the USS Oahu and described how Chinese soldiers tried to avoid being killed by changing into civilian clothes. He also saw Japanese soldiers treating civilians very badly. This article is one of the first reports that showed the world what happened during the Nanjing Massacre.
