This resource is a digitized version of the second volume of Jikji, posted by Bibliotheque Nationale de France (BnF) on August 30, 2020.
Jikji is the oldest movable metal-type printed book. It was printed in 1377 at the Heungdeok-sa temple, Cheongju city in Korea. The original title of the book is the Baegun Hwasang Chorok Buljo Jikji Simche Yojeol, which translates to the Anthology of Great Buddhist Priests’ Zen Teachings. The document was listed as a national treasure in South Korea in 1992 and listed in the Memory of the World in 2001. Jikji originally had two volumes; however, only the second volume has survived.
