Rare Object: Barbie Teenage Fashion Model
Since its introduction in the late 1950s to the general public, Barbie has become a pop culture icon, helping to shift the ways that toys are viewed and sold to young audiences. However, despite the doll's place in popular culture, objects related to the early years of the doll that have helped contribute to its enduring legacy are becoming rare and need preservation.
This exhibit focuses on preserving the metadata of rare and relatively unknown objects that shed light on the early years of Barbie and helped to cement the doll's place in popular culture.
